Wolf Supermoon
The first full moon of the year, arriving on January 3, 2026, is known as the Wolf Supermoon (strong name!). A supermoon occurs when the moon reaches its perigee, the point in its orbit closest to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter. Historically, this moon was named for the wolves heard howling more frequently this time of year as they communicate to locate pack members and coordinate their hunt.
Sturgeon Moon
The full Moon in August was dubbed the Sturgeon Moon by northeastern Native American tribes because of the large fish that were more easily caught this time of year in the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water.
Strawberry Moon
Tonight marks the eve of the Strawberry Moon. The Strawberry Moon is typically the last full moon of spring or the first of summer.
Flower Moon
Monday May 12th marks the arrival of the Flower Moon, this month’s full moon. Its name signifies growth, new beginnings, blossoming, transformation and change.
Pink Moon
On April 12th we all collectively experienced the full moon which is known as the Pink Moon. Northern Native Americans call April's full moon the pink moon after ground phlox, one of the first spring flowers. At some point in our early coffee roasting days, Brett and I realized that our roasting coincided cyclically with the full moon.
