About Us

We are Brett and Ana, co-founders of Jamesport Sourdough and Coffee Co. As a husband and wife team, we have been nurturing our love of roasting coffee beans and making sourdough at home for years. Our business began humbly by sharing loaves and coffee beans with friends and families in our community during the pandemic. We knew we were onto something when our eldest son’s Kindergarten classmate passed up ice cream to have a second helping of our sourdough for dessert. Word spread and soon enough, friends and folks we had yet to meet were asking how to place orders. And so began Jamesport Sourdough and Coffee Co, launched in 2021 from our kitchen in the hamlet of Jamesport on Long Island’s North Fork.

Our products are inspired by the beauty and community of the North Fork, as well as the years we spent living in Seattle. Our coffee blends skew dark and chocolatey like the roasting profile favored by Pacific Northwest coffee houses. Our sourdough is leavened with a starter that is more than a decade old, kindly gifted to us by our favorite Seattle bakery years ago. We have been feeding, asking friends to babysit, and traveling with it ever since — including moving it with us from coast to coast.

Today, we are proud to call Jamesport and the North Fork home and care deeply about our community here. When we are not roasting, fermenting, turning or baking you can find us volunteering on a local farm or in the backyard tending to our chickens and two young children.

Our Products

We create artisan products from the highest quality ingredients. Our flour suppliers use regenerative and organic farming methods. Some are certified organic and non-GMO, some use organic farming practices and do not yet have the resources to become certified organic. All are dedicated to preserving farm land and regenerative agriculture.

We source our coffee beans from the supply chain of green coffee beans that is available to a business our size. Our aim is to consistently roast with fair trade, organic beans, and we source beans with these certifications as often as possible.

Our Values

We value quality over quantity, personal connection, environmental stewardship and honing our craft. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Gratitude

We give thanks to

  • Browder’s Birds for sampling our bread and encouraging us to sell it. Browder’s has an amazing egg and meat CSA as well as a self-service farm stand that we highly recommend.

  • Jamesport Farmstead for teaching us about soil health, regenerative agriculture and no-till methods for growing plants. Your work will save the planet. Sign up for their vegetable CSA here.

  • Faye Forman for designing our logo. She is accepting new work and is a pleasure to work with.

  • Peconic Community School families for tasting, testing and providing feedback that we used to launch the business.
